The Brown Pelican is the state bird and apparently means a lot to anyone from there, and as far as birds go you have to have been close up to one to realise it is one big scary feathery mo fo.
I think it is a smart play to connect the team to the local area and yes already owning a franchise that has won it all either he himself or those running both teams will know their area and how to brand themselves in a marketplace.
