there could be 2 different theories (depending on how you think). Grego's theory of a big at all times is a good one, you could also argue that Pop didn't want to ruin the running chemistry we have with a slasher/pick setter which Blair does and Diaw can do. Splitter can do that, but he's not much of the passer Blair is and prefers a slowed down game over a fast moving game (or heck maybe Pop is experimenting lineups while resting some guys).
with Pop's starting unit, it seems that Diaw did wear Paul Milsap's legs out for the end of the game (something Splitter wouldn't have done).
