Rockets guard Aaron Brooks said after Sunday's game he was told to expect to miss four to six weeks with a sprained left ankle he suffered at the end of the first half Saturday night in an overtime defeat at San Antonio.
The injury snapped his streak of 119 consecutive games played.
"I don't think I ever had an ankle injury like this before," Brooks said. "I did break my hand in college, sat out like eight weeks.
"As far as football, I never had any injury. Luckily, nothing is broken. It's a sprain. I'll be back to normal.
"You have to count your blessings."
Brooks was injured when he landed on Manu Ginobili's right foot, but said he did not think Ginobili did anything improper in defending Brooks' running 40-footer at the first-half buzzer.
"I don't think anything of it," Brooks said. "Bang bang play.
"It was an accident."
A day after Rockets guard Kevin Martin left a game with a sprained left ankle, he was cleared to play after a pregame test Sunday and scored 21 points in 26 minutes, making nine of 13 shots in nearly 26 minutes in a 120-94 win over the Timberwolves at Toyota Center.
"It was good," Martin said. "I knew I was going to be limited in a lot of areas.
"It was a good thing the jumper was going because I didn't want to make moves going to the hole tonight to try to draw contact and get to the free-throw line.
"We were 0-5. We needed to do anything to get a win.
"I was able to play on it so that was the main thing." Rockets notes: Brooks to miss 4-6 weeks with injury | NBA Basketball | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle
