The school has called a news conference for Tuesday. Its president, William Powers, and men's and women's athletics directors DeLoss Dodds and Chris Plonsky will take part. Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe will speak later in the morning via teleconference.

The move comes as all the Big 12's remaining 10 members, minus Nebraska and Colorado, appear to be moving toward agreement to remain intact as a league. That could signal a virtual, and unexpectedly swift, end to reconfiguration of the college athletics landscape.
