Those two statements don't make any sense together. I'm not sure what you mean by "be more responsible" and "destroy", but why would we care about being more responsible if we know that what we do won't have any significant long term negative impact? By destroy do you mean make the earth totally uninhabitable, or simply less habitable by some measureable degree?
