McNabb shows Vick brotherly love

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is one of my two favorite athletes in professional sports today, along with San Antonio Spurs’ basketball star Tim Duncan. Last week, he once again showed why I respect him so much.
Not only has he enjoyed a great career in a tough sports city, but he displayed his class and great compassion by lobbying to bring beleagured Michael Vick to Philadelphia. As the Eagles’ organization haggled with the pros and cons of bringing Vick to the city of Brotherly Love, it was McNabb who reached out and went to bat for Vick, who is trying to put his life and career back together after serving a prison sentence for his dogfighting activities.
Along with former Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy, McNabb will serve as a mentor to Vick as he starts his life over again. Remember, it was McNabb who reached out and lobbied to bring Terrell Owens to Philadelphia several seasons ago and the Eagles went to the Super Bowl. It was too bad that T.O. was too stupid to realize how good the situation was in Philly before he blew up the franchise with his normal child-like behavior. Despite the horrible experience with T.O., it was cool to see Donovan reach out to another troubled young brother, even if it is not the most popular thing to do.
Donovan McNabb is a Hall of Famer in my book; and not just for his football talent. He is a lot more. What happened last week was another reason why.
