Customers Can Make Payment Arrangments, Get Assistance

SAN ANTONIO -- Staying cool is coming at a heavy price for some CPS Energy customers.
Lucinda Sendejo recently received a $500 electric bill and had to borrow money to pay it.
"It does hurt me because I have other bills," she said. "I'm a 76-year-old woman and sometimes I have a hard time breathing."
CPS Energy customer contact manager Sandra Currans said that customers who are having a hard time paying their bill should call or walk into a customer service center to make payment arrangements or to get assistance.
"If anybody is having difficulty, they need to contact us, and we'll see what we can do to help them," Currans said. Gilbert Orozco was one customer who was able to get assistance. He had a $545 bill that he had no idea how he was going to pay.
"I didn't know what to do," he said. "But then I came by two weeks ago and told them I lost my job and they helped me and paid my bill."
The paid bill meant putting food on the table for Orozco's family and one less worry as he looks for work.
