I would have been one in the demographics that would have known the man, the pieces, and absolutely would have stayed for the whole thing if I could have. Maybe there is another reason for some responses--people are embarrassed for street musicians who have to play for a few bucks. I don't spend too much time downtown here, but I have stopped for awhile if I liked the music. People are so rushed that many don't take the time to smell the coffee, listen to the music or enjoy the world around them. Would he have attracted more if he played the Blues or some other type of music?? Maybe. It is true that in another country, he would undoubtedly attract a crowd. But we have our noses to the grindstone and miss so much around us. thank you for posting this--I will email it to my violin-playing daughter.
