How do you really make the most of Fiesta partying and pageantry? Make your own Fiesta medal, of course.

Once again the Express-News wants your original medals for our annual Fiesta Medal Contest. We're talking homemade head-turners any Fiesta fanatic would wear with pleasure and pride.

So rock the crowns of Fiesta royalty with your own crazy courts. Craft a cool shout-out to the Spurs or other favorite sports squad. Celebrate your pets. Or even better, fire up a theme from your own fevered imagination. If it's original and outrageous, we want it.

We'll run the top medals in S.A. Life the first day of Fiesta, April 20. If you don't spot your medal in the newspaper, don't fret. We'll run every single submission (yes, all of them) online at MySA.com. And as usual, we'll hold an in-house auction of the medals to benefit a local nonprofit organization.

Contest rules are easy enough: All entries must be handmade and all ages and skill levels may enter. Just remember these are medals, not manhole covers — submissions should ideally fit in a 4-by-6-inch space. (We'll give you some breathing room with any attached ribbons or other decorations.) Limit three medals per person.

Oh, and remember to print legibly.

Mailed submissions should be sent before Easter (April 8) so we'll get them in time.

All medals must be received no later than 5 p.m. April 11 and will not be returned.
